Tosan Aji Museum










Tosan Aji Museum is a special museum that presents one type of collection that is Tosan Aji (keris). Tosan Aji is one of the cultural results of the nation as an ancestral heritage that shows one of the nation's cultural identity.
Tosan Aji Purworejo Museum is located on Jln. Mayjend Sutoyo No. 10 or south of Purworejo Square. On June 10, 2001 by Purworejo District Government.
Museum Tosan Aji was inaugurated on 13 April 1987 by the Governor of Central Java I KDH Central Ismail. The location of the museum at that time is located in Pendopo Kawedanan Kutoarjo. On June 10, 2001 by the District Government moved from Kutoarjo to Purworejo city occupied the former State Court building in the Dutch era, on Mayjend Sutoyo No.10 or south of the Purworejo square. This is done as an effort to realize the integrated location of several historical buildings, such as the Great Mosque of Darul Mutaqin in the west of Purworejo square with the largest Pendowo Bedug in Indonesia perhaps in the world, and the Museum in the south.
The collection of Tosan Aji features more than 1000 heritage possessions of Keris, Sword, Spear, Kujang / kud, Cundrik, Granggang from the Kingdom of Pajajaran, Majapahit until now, other cultural heritage objects such as Ancient Gamelan Kyai Cokronegoro, gift from Sri Susuhunan Pakubuwono VI to the first Purworejo Regent "Cokronegoro l" and as well as some Inscriptions, Arca, Linga, Yoni, Fragment, Lumpang, Guci, Beliung, Gong Stone, Pottery, Menhir and Fosil.

Monday-Thursday 7 am - 2 pm
Friday 7 am - 11am
Saturday 7 am - 1 pm
